Lawtell Burglary and Sexual Assault Suspect Confesses

On October 6th, 2009, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrested and charged Brian Keith Malveaux with Aggravated Burglary, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Rape, Aggravated Kidnapping and Oral Sexual Battery.

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, "Malveaux had been previously identified as a person of interest in the case and detained by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Investigations Division relative to a home burglary and sexual assault that occurred on Standberry Rd. in the Lawtell, LA area on October 3rd, 2009.

Guidroz stated, "I would like to commend our Patrol Division for their quick response to the initial call, and for protecting the crime scene in preparations for our Detective Division to arrive on the scene. Detectives did an outstanding job in collecting, preserving and presenting the evidence to the Acadiana Crime Lab. Without each department units working together in sync to solve this crime, it would not have been solved. When Malveaux was presented with the solid evidence detectives had secured in the investigation his story changed and he confessed to his involvement in the incident."

Sheriff Guidroz added, "It is not often a serious and heinous crime is committed one day and less than three (3) days later an arrest is made and a suspect is charged and arrested. We are happy to have made an arrest so quickly in this incident."

"Our citizens in the area where this crime took place can now rest assured that Malveaux will not be terrorizing their community anymore, and will be off the streets of St. Landry Parish for a very long time once he is convicted," Sheriff Guidroz said.
