LSU starts interviews for vice chancellor

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU has interviewed the first of the four finalists for the executive vice chancellor and provost position.

The Advocate reports Bobby Schnabel, dean of the Indiana University School of Informatics, was the first to interview on Thursday out of those vying to replace current Provost Jack Hamilton, who is scheduled to retire at the end of June.

The other three finalists, who will do public forums next week, are internal candidate Kevin Carman, dean of the LSU College of Science; Michael O'Brien, dean of the University of Missouri College of Arts and Science; and Stuart Bell, dean of the University of Kansas School of Engineering.

The provost is the university's chief academic officer and second in charge on campus.
