Acadiana and Capital Resource Conservation and Development hosted the Louisiana Women in Agriculture Farm Tour Friday, offering 30 Acadiana women a hands-on opportunity to experience agri-tourism, goat and cattle operations, crawfish production and conservation opportunities at several area farms.
The tour includes stops at WesMar Farms in Moreauville, D&G Frey Crawfish, LLC in Iota, and Eagles' Ranch in Goudeau. Guest speakers discussed how best to use farm land as well as opportunities for women in an industry previously thought by many to be male-dominated. Participants will have the opportunity to network with agricultural producers from across the state.
The tour departed at 7:45 a.m. Friday from the Hampton Inn in Mansura, La., and returns back to the same location by 5 p.m. Participants paid $30 to tour each of the facilities.
