McKINNEY, Texas (AP) - A jury has convicted a Louisiana man on
five counts of manslaughter in the 2008 deaths of a Texas family
headed home from church.
David Calhoun Jones of Metarie, La., was found guilty Thursday
in the Dallas suburb of McKinney. He faces up to 20 years in prison
and a fine of $10,000 once the sentencing phase of his trial is
Authorities say the crash data recorder indicated Jones was
going 98 mph when he crashed into a minivan carrying Geoff and
Christy Hart, their 12-year-old daughter and two foster children,
ages 5 and 6. All five people in the van died.
Jones maintained he was driving safely and was on his way to
pick up his daughter. He broke his spine and suffered a traumatic
