Local artist Roger Claudel dies at 76

An Acadiana artist and a member of the KATC family has died.

Roger Claudel passed away Friday at a Lafayette hospital. He was 76.

Claudel worked as KATC's first artistic director in the 1960s. He later worked as a commercial artist, creating the logos of a number of local and regional businesses. Among his creations are the logos for Acadian Ambulance, PHI, Shop Rite, Tobacco Plus, Red's, and Popeye's Fried Chicken.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at Martin & Castille's Scott Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home immediately following visitation.
