LAFAYETTE - The Lafayette Consolidated Government Public Works Department announced that the bridge on Robley Drive at the Broadmoor Coulee was opened to traffic today, as all but minor items of work are completed.
The actual structure is a box culvert designed to be compatible with the future permanent drainage improvements scheduled to be made to the coulee itself.
Although the opening of the roadway was delayed by the unusual amount of poor weather conditions for the past few months, based upon actual charged work days per the contract, the project will be completed within contract time.
"We appreciate the patience of the residents in this area, as well as other citizens who have been affected by the bridge closure for quite some time," said Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel.
The contractor for the project was M.P. Dumesnil Construction Company, and the project was designed by Dubroc Engineering. The project cost was $400,000.
