THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish Schools Superintendent Jo Ann Matthews will receive a new $40,668 white Ford Expedition soon thanks to the district's taxpayers.
Business Manager Don Gaudet says the vehicle, which will serve as her personal and professional transportation, will be the second one purchased by the school board in the last seven years.
It will be paid from the district's operating budget.
The school board voted months ago to begin the bid process for a new vehicle. When it couldn't get a bite for a 2014 Ford Expedition locally, it bought one from Hixon Autoplex in Alexandria.
The Courier reports Matthews' current vehicle is also a Ford Expedition, which she received upon becoming superintendent.
