The Lafayette Parish School Board will not decide tonight whether teachers will be fined for resigning early.
The issue was pulled by Superintendent Pat Cooper at the beginning of the meeting.
Cooper said he pulled the issue because wants to implement a new process for vetting "major" agenda items and involve teachers, parents and administration in discussions.
Three items in total were pulled-- changes to tenured and untenured teacher contracts and changes to sick leave policy.
Cooper said the changes were proposed because of some things that "alarmed administration." The school system spends $16 million on sick leave annually and he said he's heard stories of abuse, like teachers using sick leave to go on cruises.
