The Lafayette Parish School Board tonight approved a $1 million joint venture South a Louisiana Community College to build new building.
Next school year, the board will give SLCC $500,000 and the other half in the following year. It will be funded by a lawsuit settlement and excess sales tax.
The partnership will increase the school system's Early College Academy's capacity to 1,000. ECA students can graduate with both a high school and associate's degree in four years.
There are about 250 students currently enrolled at ECA.
