Lafayette's Newest Festival: LA Festival

Lafayette's newest festival kicks off Saturday at Parc International.

"LA Festival" sets itself apart from the rest because of its cause-- proceeds benefit the Atchafalaya Basin, supporting the Basinkeeper project.

Also, for every ticket sold, boy scouts will plant a cypress tree in the Basin.

The event features great food, local art, and a long list of musical acts including the Givers, Black Joe Lewis and Sonny Landreth.

"The initiative the event supports-- the Basinkeeper and the preservation of the Basin-- is incredibly important to our culture, state, and whole community," says Karmen Blanco from Cox, one of the sponsors.

The event is also an awareness project, supporting local farmers and food, and renewable energy.

LA Festival gates open at noon Saturday and the event ends at 9pm.

Tickets are $25 each if you buy them online before midnight Thursday or at Downtown Alive Friday. Tickets on Saturday are $35. Student tickets are just $15. Go to
