More than two months after a Lafayette man was discovered dead in his hotel room, his wife has learned he was murdered.
Susie Aycock Fleniken was initally led to believe her husband Greg died from natural causes, possibly a fall on September 16.
Tuesday, autopsy results were released to Beaumont media outlets, indicating Fleniken's death was a homicide. He was apparently beaten to death. He suffered massive internal injuries from blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen. His ribs were fractured and his liver and heart torn.
The family is now offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Greg's killer.
The 55-year old was found in his hotel room in Beaumont, after repeated calls from his wife went unanswered. She called his office and a coworker did a welfare check at the hotel. That person discovered the body.
Fleniken lived in Lafayette some of the week and worked as Vice President of the OGM Land Company in Beaumont for the remainder of the week.
His wife Susie hopes the reward will inspire someone to come forward and give her family justice.
Call Beaumont Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS if you have any information about the murder.
