Lafayette man arrested on stalking, attempted murder charges

A four-week investigation ended today with the arrest of a Lafayette man on six counts of stalking and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Steven Thomas, 25, is currently under arrest and being interviewed by Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputies.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Kip Judice said Thomas is accused of firing multiple gunshots into the home of the victims on Sept. 15 just after 1 a.m. The residence is located outside of Carencro in the 100 block of Lindsey Circle.

Additionally, Judice said threatening text messages to family members of the victim were tracked back to Thomas and formed the basis for the stalking charges.

Thomas will be booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center sometime tonight. Bond has not yet been set.
