A Lafayette native is one of three men behind bars for allegedly starting a massive California wildfire.
Jonathan Jarrell, who now lives in Irwindale, California, remains in the Los Angeles County Jail on $20,000 bond in connection with the wildfire.
Officials say the flames spread after Santa Ana winds hit a campfire started by Jarrell and the other two suspects. Investigators say they do not believe the fire was intentionally started.
The U.S. Forest Service says the fire in the San Gabriel Mountains is 84 percent contained, with full containment expected Wednesday. The roughly 3-square-mile blaze destroyed six homes and 10 outbuildings after erupting Thursday in the Angeles National Forest.
