Lafayette man accused of attempted first degree murder

A 39-year-old Lafayette man has been arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder, accused of robbing a woman at a bank

On Saturday, at approximately 4:50 pm in the 3100 block of Louisiana Avenue, a woman was driving into the deposit lane of a bank when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a black Lincoln Continental truck.

The victim says she drove and parked at a nearby parking lot, at which time the suspect approached her vehicle and began attempting to break her driver's side window.

Police say after several unsuccessful attempts to break the windows on the vehicle, the suspect fired a single shot from a handgun through the window. The suspect then reached into the vehicle and stole a deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the area in the black truck.

The victim received minor injuries during the robbery.

Marcus Sam was charged with attempted 1st degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
