Lafayette Lights, a location-based website that showcases homes and businesses decorated in Christmas lights around Lafayette, has returned with new features for the holiday season.
Founded by RUSSO Senior Partner Jaci Russo in 2010, the website displays a map of the Lafayette region with icons indicating the participating homes and businesses. Residents are encouraged to register their homes on LafayetteLights.com, which gives them a spot on the map. Through crowdsourcing, the map becomes more comprehensive than if someone
attempted to create a map single-handedly. More than 100 homes and businesses registered in the past.
"There are some families that go all out," said Russo. "Then there are people like me who just
want to know where the lights are, so they use it as a tool and a guide to see where to go!"
The site also allows users to register and vote for the homes and businesses they deemed to be the wackiest, brightest, or best, right up until Christmas Day. Last time, more than 32,786 votes were cast.
In 2014, the City-Parish Government plans to participate in routing buses to follow the Lafayette Lights map with stops Downtown, Zoosiana and Acadian Village.
Please visit LafayetteLights.com to register your home or business and view the continually advancing map.
