Every parent thinks their bundle of joy deserves the royal treatment. But one young family's princess was born the same day as true royalty.
Meet Bexley Elise Mellington born Monday morning to her proud parents Ian and Tarena of Lafayette. Their princess weighing in at 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 19 inches long.
"It was very surreal. I had tears in my eyes. I couldn't contain it they just rolled down my face," said Tarena. "Just the feeling of having your heart outside your body. It was very rewarding."
Now Bexley shares her birthday with the future King of England.
"When they announced her (the Dutchess of Cambridge) due date I was kinda excited that we were going to be due at the same time," said Tarena.
The royal baby was announced in true royal fashion. But just like the Mellington's, the exciting news broke on social media. And while the two babies were born world's apart, could wedding bells be in the future?
"My best friend said the exact same thing. Like if it's a boy, they should get married and live happily ever after," said Tarena.
Her father has a very different opinion.
"No. Probably no," said Ian."Just no across the board."
And while the future for the royal baby is set in stone, Bexley's future is in her hands.
"I want her to have dreams and goals no matter what they are. I just want her to do what makes her happy," said Tarena.
"Not too independent, but just sticks to her guns and does what she wants to do without driving us crazy," said Ian.
