Lafayette authorities seek identity of Wilson Street suspect

Detectives Seek Identity of Suspect

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect that entered an apartment in the 600 block of Wilson Street. On November 16, 2009, at approximately 8:30 pm, a black male suspect entered an apartment by way of an unlocked door and was confronted by the female resident who was exiting a room. The suspect fled the apartment without incident. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10" to 5'11", approximately 25-30 years of age, short hair and approximately 160 pounds. The suspect appeared to be wearing a pin striped navy blue work shirt with dark pants and black boots.

On August 28, 2009, at approximately 9:45 pm, a suspect with the same description and clothing was seen entering an apartment at the same complex. Approximately three weeks ago a suspect meeting the same description was observed standing on an air conditioner attempting to look into the window of an apartment. This particular incident was not reported to the police department.

Residents are urged not only to lock their doors when departing their homes, but to secure their doors when at home as well. Report any and all suspicious person and activity by calling 911.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to call the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
