Louisiana authorities say they are cracking down on illegal inspection stickers in the Baton Rouge area.
The state Department of Environmental Quality said Monday that investigators have in the past 10 weeks confiscated more than 200 stickers issued to drivers who didn't have the proper paperwork or who owned vehicles that wouldn't pass an inspection.
The department said it has teamed up with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police on a program targeting inspection facilities that fraudulently issue stickers to vehicles with safety or emissions problems.
The program was launched in 2000 and covers East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Ascension and Livingston parishes.
