Kidnapping Arrest in Lafayette

On Thursday July 15, 2010 at approximately 2:28 pm the Lafayette Sheriff's Office received a call about a possible kidnapping. The caller stated that her daughter was texting her saying she was being held against her will by a friend. Deputies obtained information that 31 year old Leroy Louviere was in a vehicle driving around and holding his 28 year old female friend and her 6 year old daughter at knife point against their will.
Deputies obtained a description of the vehicle and its whereabouts and began a search. Shortly after 3:00pm deputies received a call from the 28 year old victim stating that she convinced Louviere to exit the vehicle around Beaver Park and then drove away and that she and her daughter were unharmed.
Deputies began a search of the area and at 3:21pm apprehended Louviere without incident at Beaver Park.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and interviewing all parties.
Leroy Louviere has been booked at the Lafayette Parish correctional Center on (2) counts of 2nd Degree Kidnapping.
