Junior League of Lafayette brings smiles to the Pumpkin Patch

LAFAYETTE, LA- October 17, 2009- Seventeen children and their families joined in a fun filled trip to the Covenant United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch, through the Junior League of Lafayette's SMILES program. Junior League of Lafayette volunteers assisted the children in picking out and decorating pumpkins that the children took home. The families also enjoyed a petting zoo, hayride, and fun jump provided by Covenant United Methodist Church and goodie bags and concessions provided by the Junior League of Lafayette. It was a beautiful day that was enjoyed by all!

SMILES is a community program offered by the Junior League of Lafayette, in conjunction with the Miles Perret Center, that establishes and implements activities for children whose parents or siblings have cancer. The goal of the SMILES committee is to create and share happy, carefree memories with activities for those dealing with cancer.
