JONESBORO, La. (AP) - A Jackson Parish jury found Jonesboro Mayor Leslie Thompson guilty on three counts of malfeasance.
The News-Star reports the six-member jury reached its unanimous decision Wednesday after little more than an hour of deliberations for the trial that lasted 13 days.
Sentencing is set for Nov. 13 by state District Judge Jimmy Teat. Thompson's sentence can range from probation to up to 15 years.
Thompson had no comment following the verdict, but defense attorney Louis Scott said he's confident the conviction will be overturned on appeal.
Thompson faced charges ranging from denying the legislative auditor financial documents to failing to manage financial records.
