Jim Hummel was named weekend anchor for KATC in October, 2010. He joined the news team as a general assignment reporter in February of 2009, coming to KATC from NECN (New England Cable News) in Newton, MA, where he worked as an assignment editor for 2 years.

While at NECN Jim also worked part-time as a news writer for WCVB-TV and he also had a chance to develop his reporting skills as a freelance reporter at WGGB-TV in Springfield, MA.

Hummel graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Stonehill College in Easton, MA. As a Biochemistry major, Jim spent 2 years conducting research in an organic chemistry lab. He has presented his research at chemistry conferences in Germany and throughout the United States.

Hummel's interest in journalism was sparked while studying abroad in London his junior year at the University of Westminster. While in London Jim had the opportunity to take classes outside of the sciences, and developed an interest in current events and politics.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys running, tennis and hanging out with family and friends. He is very excited to be living and working in Acadiana!
