JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Jennings Mayor Terry Duhon says water and sewer rates for the city will increase 5 percent, while the cost of trash collection will increase 2.4 percent, or 42 cents, to $17.78.
If the rates are approved by the council on June 25, Duhon says residents could expect to see just under a $3 increase for the services beginning July 1.
The increases are part of an annual Consumer Price Index adjustment, which takes into account fuel costs, salaries, insurance and other liabilities.
The mayor says the average increase for water would be about $2.10 for most customers.
