Jefferson Davis Parish students and employees will be paying more to eat breakfast and lunch at school this fall.
The school board approved a 25 cent increase for meals beginning with the next school year in August.
The American Press reports the increase passed in a 9-4 vote last week.
The prices for student breakfasts will increase from 50 cents to 75 cents. Breakfast for employees will go from 45 cents to $1.75.
The price for student lunches will rise from $1.25 to $1.50. Employee lunches will increase from $1 to $3.
Superintendent Brian Lejeune said the price increase, which is the first for the parish in several years, is needed to offset the cost of providing meals at school.
