Investigation: Crowley Domestic Murders

New information in the domestic violence cases that left two people dead in Crowley over the weekend.

Ericka Solomon is charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of her boyfriend, Joseph Smith. She's being held on a $1 million bond.

Within two hours of that stabbing, Crowley Police were called to another murder. Marlon Mayfield is charged with shooting his estranged wife, Teresa, to death. He is charged, not only with second degree murder, but we've learned of second charge: Kidnapping.

Crowley Police say when Teresa Mayfield went to pick up her children from their fathers house, that's when her estranged husband, Marlon Mayfield, pulled her into the house against her will. Later police arrive to find Teresa shot to death. And just last month, Teresa filed for a restraining order.

On May 10th, Teresa filed for a formal restraining order against Marlon. At the time, she felt she and her three children were in danger, and requested a temporary restraining order be granted immediately. Court documents reveal Teresa claimed she was being punched, choked and threatened with weapons. She also claimed her children were being abused at the hand of their father, Marlon Mayfield.

In her own account, Teresa says just two days before filing for the restraining order, he had pulled a gun on her and said if she left he would find her and kill her.

Days after that alleged incident Marlon filed for divorce and joint custody. But for unknown reasons, Teresa later dropped the restraining order.

Records show on Sunday evening, June 23rd, Marlon called 9-1-1 telling a dispatcher he had just killed his wife.

Marlon is being held on a $1 million bond for second degree murder and a $50,000 bond on the kidnapping charge.

In regards to the other domestic situation that ended in murder, records show Ericka Solomon, who is being charged in the death of her boyfriend, has no criminal history.
