Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office responded to two separate armed robberies on Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
According to the sheriff's office, the first armed robbery happened at approximately 10 p.m. in the 1500 block of St. Joseph Street. The victim, a 17-year-old male, reported that he was approached by two males in a white Toyota pickup truck.
One of the males, described by the victim as black and wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, got out of the truck, pulled a handgun from his waistband and demanded money. According to the victim, the suspects fled after a short struggle. The victim refused to provide deputies with any additional information, according to the sheriff's office.
At 2 a.m. Tuesday, deputies were called to the 100 block of Prairie Street in response to an armed robbery. The 16-year-old victim told deputies he was walking near East St. Peter Street and Bank Avenue when he was approached by two black males who asked to use the victim's cell phone.
According to the victim, one of the males wielded a handgun and took the phone from him before fleeing the area. The victim could not provide any additional details as to the description of the suspects.
