House fire claims life of Lafayette woman

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A 51-year-old Lafayette woman died over the weekend in a fire at her home.
The fire department received the call at 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
Alton Trahan, a fire department spokesman, tells The Advertiser firefighters found Belinda Bass Schoeffler on the floor in the master bedroom, where the fire is believed to have started.
Schoeffler was taken to a local hospital where she died a short time later.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
