House Bill Seeks to Stop LHSAA Actions

A proposed law could change the way high school sports are played in Louisiana. The LHSAA voted in January, to separate public and private schools during football playoffs.

Three legislators filed House Bill 267, which states, "no public high school shall participate in any interscholastic athletic activity directed or regulated by any organization or association that discriminates among students on the basis of school admissions criteria."

Northside High School head coach Trev Faulk says, "its kind of tough to imagine because that's all that we've known. Even just looking at the split is tough to imagine."

Westminster head coach Tommy Badon doesn't want to see the league split either way. He feels there's only a problem with a few private schools. "i think its really a lot more balanced than a lot of people really think."
