Hot & Humid...Today

Steamy weather made a big return late Monday and is holding on across Acadiana today.  Dew points have surged back into the upper 70s which tells us that a ton of moisture is back in place.  It also tells our bodies to start sweating the minute we step outside!

It won't last long.  A cool front will pass through this afternoon and evening.  Ahead of the front there will be enough lift to generate scattered showers and thunderstorms.  A few of those could dump some brief, heavy rain this afternoon.  After the front passes through, the winds should shift to the northwest and humidity levels will drop shortly thereafter.

Now the front won't necessarily bring any cool air, but because the airmass will be drier, temperatures can warm and cool easier.  So temps will still approach 90 during the day, but night time lows should drop into the mid to upper 60s for the rest of the week.  Also with the lower humidity, sweating won't be needed as much!

On average over the past decade, the first "real" cold front that drops temperatures in the 50s in Acadiana comes in about September 29th.  I am seeing a cold front that might drop our temperatures significantly over the first weekend in October.  So hold, on...less than two weeks to go!
