A major Opelousas thoroughfare is now open again for traffic.
The bridge on Heather Road was reopened on Wednesday. The bridge was closed in April after it failed a safety inspection. However, contract negotiations and weather delayed the start of construction until July.
According to Mayor Don Cravins, the bridge was repaired at a cost of approximately $140,000.
