Harrison Earns Sun Belt And LSWA Player Of The Week Honors

LAFAYETTE, La. - Senior Seth Harrison became the fifth Ragin' Cajuns baseball player to earn player of the week honors as he was named both the Sun Belt Player of the Week as well as the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association (LSWA) Player of the Week on Monday.

"I though Seth had a great weekend and he definitely deserves this honor," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "This is a reward for his hard work and effort. Anytime you have a guy who is rewarded for his hard work and effort, I think it's enormous because it helps him to continue to keep working."

Harrison, a senior outfielder, had an outstanding week offensively to help guide the Ragin' Cajuns to a 5-0 week and extend the team's win streak to 12 games which is the nation's longest active streak.

Harrison posted at least one hit and run in each of the five games. On the week, Harrison hit .429 with nine hits including a double, triple and three home runs to go with five RBI and scored eight times. The senior helped spark the Cajuns offense on the road at Nicholls State with a triple, which resulted in the team's first run of the game coming in the top of the 7th. Harrison made it count going 6-for-13 with a double, three home runs, five RBI and scored five runs in a sweep of Georgia State.

"Like with the other pitchers and hitters that have won this award, to win it means that you had a good weekend,"Robichaux added. "I've always said that if we win the award we had a good weekend as a team, while when the team you played gets the award it usually means that you had a bad weekend. Seth deserves this honor. I think he will tell you, just like anyone else on our team that has won the award will, that this isn't the award that we are chasing, but its good to recognize someone that has had a special weekend."

Harrison joins Jace Conrad on the list of Cajuns to earn SBC Player of the Week Honors. Carson Baranik and Austin Robichaux each earned the SBC Pitcher of the Week award, while Greg Milhorn earned the first LSWA award of the year.

"What's good is that we have a lot of guys fighting for player of the week awards on Mondays," Robichaux said. "That's a good thing because our guys are pushing each other. I think that's one of the reasons that we have been successful this year. Each guy pushes each other to be their best."

The Cajuns (22-2) look to extend their winning streak as they take on Northwestern State and Southern in midweek action before hosting WKU in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
