Redevelopment Incentive Grant Applications for 2014/2015 are now available for particular historic properties in New Iberia.
Louisiana Main Street Redevelopment Incentive Grants encourage economic development through community reinvestment and revitalization by providing matching funds support for the redevelopment of historic downtown commercial properties in order to foster renewed interest in shopping, working, living downtown, and cultural tourism development by providing final support for the restoration and redevelopment (using historic preservation practices) of historic downtown commercial properties.
Grants funding and the number of grants awarded are dependent on state budgets and the amount of funding awarded to this program by the legislature each year.
This grant requires a dollar-for-dollar monetary match. Grant funds are limited to actual construction/restoration hard costs only. Owner or tenant contributions of design work, labor, equipment, and such are regarded as in-kind and are not considered as matching funds for the purpose of this grant.
The award amount is paid upon completion of all work as described in the scope of work. Work must adhere to both specifics detailed in the application scope of work in the grant application and the historic preservation guidelines of the Secretary of the Interior Standards. TWO LEVELS OF GRANTS ARE AVAILABLE:
$10,000 grant for redevelopment projects totaling a minimum of $20,000
$2,500 grant for redevelopment projects totaling a minimum of $5,000
Grant recipients are required to provide a minimum of 1:1 (dollar-for-dollar monetary
GRANT REQUESTS MAY BE FOR:
(A). One of the two funding amount categories, and
(B). Either an exterior, or an interior project. Interior improvements are limited to
exposing, restoring, replicating, or enhancing the original interior architectural
features, or the installation of fire suppression systems of commercial buildings.
Interior improvements for either commercial ground floor spaces or new upper
residential developments are eligible with certain restrictions.
(C). Interior and exterior projects cannot be combined in one application

than Thursday, June 12 at 4:00p.m.
The New Iberia Historic District Commission will meet on Thursday, June 19 at 5:00pm in City Hall, Council Chambers to review applications prior to submittal to the Louisiana State Main Street (LSMS) office for panel reviews and final award decisions.
