The humidity is increasing across Acadiana today and you may be feeling the changes already. We've seen a mix of sun and clouds for the past few days, a bit more cloudiness will hang around today with a chance for an afternoon storm. Wednesday and Thursday we'll see more tropical moisture surging northward so a better coverage of showers and thunderstorms for the mid week.
No tropical systems are being watched at this time and the models remain quiet over the next few days. Some extended models are indicating some activity over the Atlantic east of the Leeward Islands next week. We've seen five named storms so far this season and on average the fifth storm develops by August 31st. The first hurricane usually develops by August 10th and a second by August 28th. No hurricanes have formed so far this year.
