GEAR UP Preparing for College Residential Camp

LPSS's GEAR UP program will be holding its first ever, residential academic camp to help prepare
students for post-secondary education.

Upcoming 2013-2014 Junior and Senior students that are currently active in LPSS's GEARUP program may apply for participation in the residential college camp program.

Students must meet certain criteria for consideration into the program including; a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better, active in the GEAR UP program, a letter of recommendation from either a teacher or faculty member while also planning to attend a 4 or 2-year, post-secondary school following their graduation.

Students will be transported to the Louisiana State University at Alexandria, campus from Sunday, July 7th through Saturday, July 13th 2013.

72 students will board chartered buses for Alexandria on July 7th at 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Evangeline Thruway Wal-Mart located at: 1229 NW Evangeline Thruway, Lafayette, LA 70501.

Students will spend 7 days and 6 nights on LSU-Alexandria's campus offering them first-hand
knowledge in regards to: attending college courses, and experience college life while staying in the dorms. Students will take classes in Science, Math, and ACT Prep, lead by college professors.
These students will come back to school in the fall and disseminate information to their peers in the fall.
