Frog Festival Frenzy is in Full Swing

Frog Festival frenzy is in full swing in Rayne but it took nearly a year to prepare for the big event. For nearly 41-years, The Frog Festival has been a tradition here in Acadiana. It attracts people from around the country to see Rayne's famous frogs, food and of course the frog festival queen. This years queen has held every title in the pageant since she was five.

"It was a very great experience, I guess you could say it's obviously been a goal of mine and I was just so happy when I won," Frog Festival Queen Ashlee Guilbeau.

The stage is set and ready to go for a weekend of fun. Organizers say this one of the most unique events you'll find in Acadiana, if not the world.

"We're going to be featuring horses in the parade and we do have many bands coming but we're going to have horses in the parade for the first time in many years," said Festival Chairman Jimmy Prevost.

The fairgrounds will be full of activities, including the popular frog races and jumping competitions and the coronation of the frog derby queen.

"By having to see our frogs jump and race and experience fried frog legs that's something they can't just get anywhere anymore," said Publicity & Advertising Chair Fran Bihm. "You can come from any7where in Louisiana or the world and rent a frog and experience what Mark Twain did years ago by jumping and racing a frog

The festival kicks off tonight at 5 at the festival grounds. For a full list of events head over to this link
