Voting is underway for NBC's "The Voice," and if you haven't heard by now, one of Acadiana's own is taking the stage by storm. Ray Boudreaux performed Monday night in the top 12 of the singing competition. And some of his closest friends and family were cheering him on from here at home.
Friends and family who know Ray Boudreaux best, say they always knew he would be discovered, but never imagined it would be like this.
"I knew it would happen. But yeah, it's crazy to see it on a national stage like this," said friend, Grant Viviano.
The 25-year-old father has been singing most of his life, but gave up the dream to stay at home and spend more time with his daughter.
"Everybody has that calling growing up. I think and this is definitely his calling, you can just tell" said life-long friend, Aaron Guilbeau. "He has so much heart and he puts everything into it, for him, and his daughter. This is what he wants, and it's what he's going after."
Boudreaux's friends, and family, say this moment has been years in the making.
"When he started singing, I don't think he knew how good of a singer he was," said Guilbeau.
But Monday night, he showed the world his talent and made everyone here at home extremely proud.
"He's just gotten better and better every year. We're always pulling for him to finally make that jump," said Viviano. "To finally see his dreams coming true, it's just really amazing."
Boudreaux's 3-year-old daughter, and parents, took the trip out to Los Angeles to watch him live. His family and friends watching here at home, nearly 2,000 miles away. And everyone was thrilled with his performance.
"To see him actually fulfill his dream and get it to this level it's amazing and so inspiring to me, to everyone," said Guilbeau.
