The Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic will host its 3rd Annual FREE Skin Cancer Screening on Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. This service is a partnership between local affiliates of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Acadiana Healthy Communities Coalition.
The Clinic is located at 1317 Jefferson Street in Lafayette. This skin cancer screening event is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis with no eligibility requirements. RSVP is appreciated at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer. It accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the United States. Although more than half of our days in Louisiana are sunny, melanoma can be prevented. If you have suspicious skin spots, it is best to get your skin checked by a medical professional. Cure rates are excellent when skin cancer is detected early.
May is national Skin Cancer/Melanoma Awareness Month. Coalition members participating in this free screening event include the American Cancer Society, Cancer Center of Acadiana, Oncologics and others affiliated with the Louisiana Cancer Prevention and Control Program. Educational materials and referrals for additional services will be provided to patients who are screened.
