Four-year-old girl gives back

Bailey Guillotte may only be four years old, but she has already made a difference in someone's life.
A couple of months ago, she heard a Food for the Poor speaker talk about little girls in Honduras who have to climb rocky hillsides barefoot just to get clean water.
Bailey thought of the perfect solution. She took off her own black patent shoes and asked that they be delivered to a little girl in Honduras.
"I gave her shoes because she didn't have any," Bailey said.
In countries like Honduras, daughters and mothers often have to travel many miles to get clean water. That takes up a lot of time and often those little girls don't get an education.
"You know, she doesn't even realize what she did because it's such a natural thing for a child to give," said Gwen Guillotte, Bailey's mom.
After hearing about Bailey's gesture, Food for the Poor built a village of 38 houses with running water. That little girl and her family live there, which has given her the opportunity to go back to school and get an education.
"I hope for her, that at a young age , she can realize that simple acts make a difference. I hope it continues in her life," said Gwen Guillotte.
Food for the Poor is the third largest international relief and development organization. Anyone interested in learning more, visit www.foodforthepoor.org.
