A state district judge has ruled against former N.P. Moss Middle School Principal Ken Douet in his civil lawsuit against the Lafayette Parish School Board.
Douet had sued the board in April 2012 for breach of contract. He was seeking $500,000 in damages.
Douet had served as principal of N.P. Moss Middle but was displaced in May 2011 when the district closed the poor-performing school to avoid a state takeover. Then-Superintendent Burnell Lemoine recommended Douet for the principal position at the Early College Academy, but the board did not approve that recommendation.
Instead, Douet was named a staff development specialist at the Vermilion Conference Center. Douet worked there from May 2011 until his contract expired in July 2012. Douet then retired from the school system.
