Fire Burns Two Houses in Youngsville

A house fire in Youngsville affects two homes in the 100 block of Cleopatra Lane. Firefighters said the fire broke out around 8:00 p.m. Thursday night and smoke could be seen for miles.

Homeowner Justin Sizemore said he was sitting in his living room watching television, when he noticed flames flickering on his door's window. That's when Sizemore said he saw the fire in his garage, grabbed his two dogs and bird and got out of the house.

The fire fully engulfed the first house and spread to the house next door. Crews said they were able to extinguish the fire at the second house quickly though.

No one was injured in the incident, an investigation to determine what caused the fire is underway. Lafayette, Youngsville, Broussard, Scott, Milton and Judice fire departments responded.
