Typically when Festival International arrives Acadiana enjoys lots of sunshine and warm conditions.
Although temperatures will warm through the weekend a nearly stationary frontal boundary draped across the Northern Gulf of Mexico will keep plenty if cloud cover and some rain chances in the forecast for the 2013 event.
Look for a few intervals of sun with periods of cloudiness for our Thursday and Friday with temperatures on the cooler side for Thursday evening festivities.
Warmer conditions are expected going into Friday evening with a return to warm and more humid conditions this weekend.
As for rain chances, a less than 20% chance of showers should stay with us through Friday. The weekend will be spring-like indeed with highs climbing back into the lower 80s under partly to mostly cloudy skies, but a 30% chance of scattered mainly daytime showers are expected for both Saturday and Sunday.
But even with the extensive cloud cover expected, make sure your festival gear includes sunblock and a hat, and of course an umbrella or poncho for the brief periods that we may see some shower activity.
The weather pattern looks unsettled through much of next week with the long range models interestingly enough keeping our temperatures at or below normal through the first week of May.
