Hurricane season begins Friday, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency reminds Gulf Coast residents to have a hurricane preparedness plan. This week has been designated Hurricane Preparedness Week. FEMA is encouraging residents in hurricane-prone areas to learn how hurricanes can affect their homes and lives. The agency also encourages residents to create an emergency plan in the event a tropical system threatens their area. Hurricane season runs through November 30.
