Cajuns fans, are you ready for your reigning Sun Belt Champion football team in ginormous High Def?
Cajun Field, thanks to a partnership with the world's largest supplier of video displays, will feature a new HD jumbotron taller than a two-story house and about three-times wider than the goalposts.
Although the University of Louisiana athletic department has only ordered new video board, when it arrives, university officials said they expect the new visual equipment to boost the overall stadium experience for both visiting spectators and Cajun fans.
"Enhancing the game experience for our fans and sponsors at Cajun Field has been a priority for us and we are excited to partner with Daktronics with the addition of a new state-of-the-art video board," Director of Athletics Scott Farmer said. "With tremendous success on the football field during the past three seasons, the new video board will provide us with opportunities to engage Ragin' Cajuns fans while creating new inventory and adding value for our loyal sponsors."
Athletic department officials explained that the new video display will feature a 15HD pixel layout measuring 30-feet tall by 54-feet wide. The display, UL officials said, will feature "exceptional contrast for excellent image clarity and pristine graphics while providing wide-angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the stadium." According to the university, durability in the weather will not be a concern because the video board will offer "multiple levels of protection from the elements in an outdoor setting."
The new technology allows for configurations, the university boasts, that may subdivided into numerous sections of larger and smaller images, graphics, animations statistics, scoring information, instant replays, sponsorship messages, and advertising.
"Daktronics is proud to partner with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette athletics on their new football video display. This state-of-the-art display will really enhance what is already a great game-day experience. It will be exciting to see the completed installation when football returns this fall," said Andrew Rice, sales representative for Daktronics, which also will supply the university with creative content at the request of the university.
