Family Wants Justice After 83 Year Old Woman is Allegedly Strangled to Death

A Breaux Bridge family wants justice after 83 year old Jessie Messex is murdered. Officials say the the suspects are Messex's own daughter and granddaughter.

Bertha Borque last spoke to Jessie, her stepmother, on Wednesday just a few hours before she was allegedly strangled to death by her own daughter Heller Dupuis and granddaughter Toni Dupuis.

"You can't imagine that someone who loves you-that you know you love with all your heart- would injure you," Bourque said. "I can't imagine what was going through her mind."

Messex's body was discovered near the banks of Lake Martin just ten miles from the home she lived in with Heller and Toni. Officials aren't releasing circumstances surrounding her death or a motive, but Bourque has an idea of what set them off.

"The only thing I can see is she was very angry with them. When she spoke to me and I think it was concerning money," Bourque said.

She said Jesse was a loving and giving person and didn't deserve to die this way, especially not at the hands of her own daughter and grand daughter.

"I want justice," she said. " I want them to, God forgive me, but pay for what they did."

Funeral services are happening in Lafayette at Delhomme Funeral Home. The funeral is at 2 pm on Tuesday November 22 and visitation will be taking place before starting at 8 am.

Toni and Heller Dupuis remain in jail and no bond has been set.
