Ex-school board chief indicted in theft case

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The former executive director of the Louisiana School Boards Association is accused of helping a longtime employee conceal her alleged theft of money from the statewide association.

The Advocate reports an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury indicted Nolton J. Senegal Sr. of Rayne Thursday on a charge of accessory after the fact to felony theft.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

The indictment alleges the theft was committed by 49-year-old Doris Butler of Baton Rouge.

Court records say Butler, a former secretary/bookkeeper, was arrested Dec. 9 and booked with felony theft.

The state Attorney General's Office formally charged Butler with felony theft on March 7.

It wasn't clear if Senegal has hired an attorney
