VILLE PLATTE, La. (AP) - The Evangeline Parish School Board has adopted a $63.4 million budget for 2010-11. Business Manager Amy Lafleur said it was a "break even" budget, which is considered good following reductions in state funding and a slow down in the economy. Superintendent Toni Hamlin praised school principals for watching their budgets. This is the first time that there is no deficit spending in the maintenance budget used for maintaining school buildings. The school board also learned that a staffing formula adopted three years ago is helping the board absorb the reductions in state funding.
