The Eunice Police Department is making it clearly known which vehicles have become theirs as a result of drug activity. If you pass by City Hall, you can see several vehicles there marked with the words "narcotics seizure". According to Chief Ronald Dies, the vehicles were used to help facilitate drug activity, so they became the city's property. According to state law, vehicles that are seized can be sold back to the owner for the market value, auctioned or sold in a public sale, or used by the Narcotics Division of the police department. The law states that the property can only be used "in the course and scope of undercover surveillance and investigation of violations of the Louisiana Controlled Dangerous Substances Law".
