The Episcopal School of Acadiana's Quiz Bowl team triumphed to become state champions in the Louisiana Association of Academic Competition's 23rd Annual State Quiz Bowl Tournament, held on March 22nd at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
Comprised of 10 players ranging from grades 9 - 12, ESA's team was among 30 Louisiana teams competing for the title. ESA competed in Division IV, securing a divisional championship with wins over Cedar Creek (Ruston), St. Thomas Martin Episcopal (Metairie), River Oaks (Monroe) and the Academy of the Sacred Heart (New Orleans).
Next up were matches between the Division I, II, and III Champions, Jesuit (New Orleans), E. D. White (Thibodeaux), and Holy Savior Menard (Alexandria), respectively. With a victory over Menard, ESA faced the defending state champion, Jesuit, with the final outcome of the match and tournament decided by the last question, captured by ESA.
The Episcopal School of Acadiana is a co-ed, independent school serving 506 students in grades PK-3 - 5th grade in Lafayette, and grades 6-12 in Cade.
