She's definitely not the tallest girl on the court, but by all accounts 6-year-old Emma Germany is the Lady Cajuns' biggest fan, and they had a surprise for this girl who's also their biggest inspiration. The trip is sponsored by Dreams Come True of Louisiana, which helps make the dreams of terminally ill children a reality.
Emma, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last year, is now in complete remission, and the Lady Cajuns say they've learned a thing or two from her fighting spiriting. "Her inspiration, and we've shared her story with our team and she just gives our team hope. That she keeps fighting, and really that's what life's about and that's what we keep trying to teach our players", says Sallie Guillory, Associate Head Coach for the Lady Cajuns.
Dreams Come True works to grant 30 to 40 children their help every year, but the Germanys say Emma's remission is the real dream come true. "They've all opened their arms to us and helped us whether it be mentally, physically...in all aspects. They have been there for us", says Emma's mother Kimberly Germany.
If you or someone you know has a terminally ill child and you'd like to make their dreams come true, the Dreams Come True website can be found here.
