Eight Arrested in Early Morning Drug Round Up

A busy morning for deputies in Acadia Parish armed with 19 warrants for 13 people suspected of distributing illegal narcotics.

A rude awakening for several suspected drug dealers in Crowley.

All of Wednesday's warrants were issued by Acadia Parish Deputies and agents with the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole.

"These are undercover cases, undercover buys, and all of the charges were for distribution of illegal narcotics."

Maxine Trahan with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office says the arrest made doesn't begin to make a dent in the drug problem not only in Acadia Parish, but everywhere.

"For every arrest we do make, hopefully we will make a little more of a difference. We still have a big job to do and we will continue making arrest and taking part in that fight against that element, that illegal narcotic."

Though deputies weren't able to capture everyone they were looking for, they are confident they will make more arrests soon.

"It would be ideal that we would go out with our warrants and arrest everyone we are looking for, but it doesn't always end that way. Within the next day or so, we will get all of these individuals we have warrants for and begin making preparations for the next time we go out there and make these types of arrests," said Trahan.

In all, eight people were arrested and five others are still wanted.
